Chambering Chronicles: Rants After 2 Months In

2 months in and I'm in a love/hate relationship with my chambering life.
I love the work, meeting people and in a way, helping people.
But I don't really like the some principles that a few lawyers live by in doing their work.

For example, I know legal procedures are expensive, thus we need clients to pay.
But if you delay your work for months just because your client didn't pay but called every week asking about the file, its just bogus.
If its me, I'll forward my own money and then charge the client back.
That's why in my opinion, lawyers always get a bad rep for late work and shit.
Yes, I entered the legal world for the money, but I soon realized that it's more than money, it's about helping people who are in a legal dilemma.
Being money motivated, although good, you still need that humanitarian element to make your job fulfilling and worthwhile.
Some argue that people like lawyers learned their craft for a long time so they have the right to charge the client so, but I think that doesn't apply every single time for every single client.
Sometimes, lawyers may have to sacrifice a bit of their money for their client.
You can always claim it back from them in the bill. (ehem...disbursements...ehem)

But, clients must also understand, especially clients of small firms, that sometimes your case is not the only case that we are handling. We have a bunch other cases on our hands and we can't solely concentrate on your single case, so please understand.

Me? I'm still hanging on, even though I think I'm seriously underpaid for my work, but I can't complain because technically, chambering is a learning period, but still though, I'm seriously under allowanced.
(Until time of writing this rant, I'm still haven't got my allowance for this month. I haven't even filed in my short call papers.)

After Grad Chronicles: The Search

Graduated in May and finished the school program.
Now, its the search for a firm to chamber.
Already sent 10 resumes out. 2 replied and went to them interviews.
The first one is alright but the second one is not so alright.
Whatever. You live and you learn.
Still keeping it positive.
Also applied for internships in companies in the legal department.
Just keeping my options open.

Yeah, still praying and waiting for my big break.

You know what, actually, I feel like a total failure.
Every single one of my friends has started chambering.
I'm the only few that hasn't.
I'm trying to keep it positive.
But It's really hard to.
But I know, I'll have my chance, my opportunity, my rezeki, to chamber, or even get a job that has something to do with law.
Allah knows better. He planned it all. It's up to me now.

I pray that Allah will guide me through this journey.
Amin...

Getting Back Up When You're Down

So I failed 1 paper and have to take a supplementary paper.
But I'm not alone, because I'm with 38 others.
So, meaning that paper is really hard.
But I blame myself for not getting better carry marks.
So refreshment classes start on Monday.
Wish me luck.

Friends started to find firms to do their pupilage.
I'm really quite annoyed.
Cuz, for some reason, I find them like boasting about the firms and their pupilage.
Maybe I'm just jealous.
Well, good luck to them anyways.
I'll be starting mine hopefully on June.

P/S: Thinking of doing a vlog. We'll see how it goes.

Ending LLB

Finally ended my pro-course.
Just hoping that I don't fail any papers.
That would just suck.

Anyways, I'm now back in the gym doing hypertrophy training.
Trying to get buff as much as I can.
Am still looking my way back to training MMA and BJJ.

Hope everything goes well, for me and all of you guys.

P.S: If anyone know any legal firms that specialises in corporate matters, do tell because I'm looking to do mu pupilage at such firms.

Post MIMMA and 1st Semester of LLB

I am back.
Maybe for a while. So, update time.

Let's start with LLB.
Not really a great start.
Received quiet a surprising news/info.
But I try to not let it bother me to much.
But, as much as I try not dismiss it, it did bother me a bit.
I was always thinking about it the whole semester.
So, study was okay apart for me having to repeat 2 subjects next semester.
Which is a bummer, considering I did okay, minus for the tests, which I blame for myself.
So, for next semester, I'll have to tackle 11 subjects, so there.

Then, come MIMMA, or the Malaysian Invasion Mixed Martial Arts tournament.
I dreaded this for one single reason, it's in the middle of my LLB course.
So, I had to divide training time and study time, and it is hard when in LLB.
Thank god that I had understanding firm mates.
So, one month after qualifying for the ladder match, I had intensive training everyday.
I sparred every single day. I even cried. I had pushed myself to the limit every single training session.
So, comes the day of my first ever proper MMA fight,
and I was fighting Derrick Ee, a Wuji MMA practitioner.
And I was scared shitless even before stepping into the cage.
I saw his picture during the tryouts and OMG, he was ripped to shreds.
I was super scared that I would get knocked out but one week before the fight, my training partners had prepared for me mentally for the fight.

On fight day, I was thankful that my trainer and training partners were there to be my cornerman.I was so touched and that pumped me even more for the fight.
So, right after my trainer give me some tips and encouraging words, I stepped into the cage, and this is how it went:

So, yeah. I won via armbar, which is a total surprise to me, considering that I was getting hit in the face 90 percent of the time. Here are a few pictures from the photographers at the event.

Photo Credits to the MIMMA Facebook page and Edward Chen Photography Give them a like. :)

So, I qualified for the quaterfinals and let me keep the quaterfinals story short, I loss. The end.

So, what happens now?
Currently, because of my results in LLB, I had to leave the world of MMA behind for a while.
But, I promise I will return.

I WILL RETURN.

LLB+MMA+BJJ+GYM=ULTIMATE HUMAN

(THIS IS A DELAYED POST)

Just got through the first week of being a LLB student.
Got selected, more likely out of a desperate need, as the office manager.
Damn hard job.
But someone has to step up.
And already, I've dropped loads of cash.
Maybe it's for the better.
Currently looking forward to the forensic science subject.
Taught by the former head of Selangor's PDRM CSI department.

MMA and BJJ training is not going smoothly as I thought.
Over exhaustion by tuesday and took a 2 day rest.
But managed to get my ass to my maestro's final BJJ class before he leaves for Brazil.

This guy is my first real BJJ teacher.
His name is Wesley Rodrigues and he came for the birthplace of BJJ, Brazil.
He trained under the Gracie name and now is a purple belt.
He has gone back to Brazil to get his Black Belt and will come back when he does get it.
He is more than a teacher, he is a friend and I will miss him.
During his stay at MuayFit, he left 2 things:
  1. OSSS!!!!!!!!!
  2. HIGH LEVEL BRO!!!!!!!
If you don't understand that, you need to get your ass to MuayFit for some BJJ, bro.

I've got 2 weeks before MIMMA.
And I'm currently nursing injuries on the left side, from top to bottom.
But, I promise you this, I will leave everything in the cage come the fight.
150%.
And I will not disappoint.
I will show the spirit of a malay warrior.

OSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
